DIY Blueberry Lavender Syrup

Updated: Apr 11, 2020

If you've been following along on the Joyful World Essentials Instagram you probably saw that we recently took a babymoon trip to Charleston, South Carolina. We celebrated our last getaway pre-baby. I'm forever thankful for the time we had to explore the history, sites and food of Charleston.

Kyle and I love to plan our adventures around delicious food and we had several coffee shops on the list to try including Vintage Coffee Cafe. I ordered a blueberry muffin and a blueberry lavender latte that will forever haunt me because the flavor combination was just incredible. I decided to make my own version at home and am beyond thrilled with my DIY Blueberry Lavender Simple Syrup.

The wonderful thing about the recipe I'm about to share is that you can adapt it to make other versions of homemade simple syrup is lavender and blueberry isn't your favorite.

Here's what you need:

+Organic sugar

+Distilled water

+Organic blueberries

+Lavender Essential Oil

Step 1: Boil water, sugar and blueberries.

You will need 1 cup of blueberries, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water.

I love using my stainless steal pots and pans that our family gave us for Christmas! If you're looking to swap your dishes from non-stick to a safer alternative, check out my favorites on Amazon.

If you want to increase or decrease the recipe amount just make sure to use equal parts for each ingredient.

Step 2: Strain the blueberries.

Step 3: Add 6 drops of Lavender Essential Oil.

6 drops of essential oil was perfect for me, but you may prefer more or less depending on what you like! Start small with one or two drops and taste test until you get the right ratio.

Step 4: Store the syrup in an upcycled glass jar.

Reuse whatever you have in your pantry or order some great options on Amazon.

Now you are ready to use the DIY Blueberry Lavender Syrup in your next homemade latte. I made one today with my favorite coffee (No Coast Coffee!!!), almond milk and about 1 tablespoon of homemade simple syrup. The flavor was incredible and made me feel like I was sitting inside the Vintage Coffee Cafe.

XOXO,

Madi
