Give Back to the World
Updated: May 10, 2020
What if God called you to drop everything and move overseas? Would you be willing?
What if the reason you own a business or have a job isn't just to pay your bills but to give back and pour into others?
You only get one life - no restarts or do-overs. The unique gifts you have are to be shared with the world for a reason!
You were not made to be small.
Today I want to introduce you all to my friend, Karis.
Karis is a world changer, selfless in serving others and always looking for an opportunity to give back to the world.
Her heart is 100% for Jesus and giving back to others in radical ways. She is joining the World Race next year and I am super excited to be partnering with her as she tackles a big dream and a huge fundraising goal. I asked her to answer a few questions about the World Race so you could hear from her personally!! Be sure to scroll down to the end of the post where I share the secret project we've been working on together!
1. What exactly is the World Race?
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 countries around the world. There are many different routes for the World Race. I will be going on the Expedition Route to Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, China, Nepal, South Asia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Indonesia. This route is geared towards the 10-40 window where the majority of people live who are untouched by the gospel. Watch this video here for more information!
2. What motivated you to make this life changing decision?
For as long as I could remember, I felt God’s calling into the mission field. One motivation for going on the World Race is that it will allow me to see a little bit more of the world and experience a few more cultures. Hopefully along the way, God will give me some confirmation about where He would like me go teach as a full-time missionary.
3. What are you most looking forward to experiencing during the World Race?
There are a lot of things I am looking forward to experiencing during the World Race, but I am really excited to experience the act of worship in all the different cultures I will be visiting.
4. What is God teaching you in the fundraising process?
I have to admit, fundraising is challenging. I am not usually one to go out and ask people for money. I even thought about not going on the World Race because of the amount I would have to raise. However, I have been reading a book called The God Ask by Steve Shadrach. It is all about the biblical view of fundraising. Raising support isn’t just about asking people for money, even if it is for a good cause, but is about creating a partnership and building relationships between you as the support raiser, your potential supporters, and God.
4. How can we support you?
First, I could really use some prayer. The World Race is a challenging adventure in every way: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Please keep my squad and I in your prayers, as well as the many people we will meet along the way.
Pray that my squad and I…
will have open minds.
have the courage to step out of our comfort zones.
be bold as we share our faith with the people we encounter.
have humility as we become the hands and feet of Jesus.
be safe and healthy while traveling.
Pray that the people we encounter will…
open their hearts to the love of Christ.
be healed in miraculous ways.
be given peace and courage to further share God’s love.
Second, please prayerfully consider supporting me financially. I still have a bit to go to be fully funded. You can follow the link to my blog (be sure to subscribe for updates!) and hit the “Donate” button - even the smallest amounts are beneficial!
One way you can support Karis is by purchasing a JOYFUL bracelet! Karis is stamping each bracelet by hand. I'm so excited to partner with her in her fundraising efforts! You can purchase a JOYFUL bracelet for $12 each (includes shipping). 100% of the proceeds will go to Karis and her World Race funds.
