Mermaid Hair Spray

Updated: Feb 17, 2020

My hair and I have had an interesting relationship. Sometimes my hair looks happy and healthy and other times I can be found literally crying with a hair brush in my hand because I let the tangles get SO bad.

The tangles that are hard to reach are the most out of control and just need extra TLC. Thankfully, I have a supply cabinet full of essential oils which are incredible natural tools for so many issues. My oils did not fail me when it came to the "birds nest" of tangles I had growing in the back of my head.

I created a DIY hair spray that I would spritz on the tangles and it would help me brush out the rough patches tear free.

I've affectionally named this low-tox DIY my Mermaid Hair Spray.

Here's what you will need:

+Spray Bottle (reuse an old bottle or buy on Amazon)

+Witch Hazel (to help the oils and water mix)

+Rosemary Essential Oil

+Lavender Essential Oil

+Cedarwood Essential Oil

+Lavender Hair Conditioner {optional}

Step 1: Add your essential oils to the spray bottle.

You will need 30 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil, 30 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil and 20 drops Lavender.

Step 2: Add 1 tablespoon of Young Living's Lavender Hair Conditioner.

We've been using Young Living's low-tox shampoo and conditioner for the past couple years and that also has helped with the nasty tangles!!

Step 3: Add a splash of witch hazel.

Step 4: Fill the rest of the bottle with water. Shake well.

Spray generously on your hair before brushing. I would use my Mermaid Hair Spray right after I showered when my hair was wet to help manage my massive mane or spray directly on tough tangled spots. However you use this DIY, I hope it helps you maintain your hair's beautiful health!

For me personally my hair has been SO much happier once we switched to more natural products. I most usually get my hair trimmed about once a year and every time my hair stylists have commented on how healthy my hair is. I try to limit heat on my hair as well.

How do you support your hair's natural health?
